An Interesting Bullet Mold

Here is some information that was shared with me this week. Reference bullets TL4072 & TL4072a here at TennesseeLead. These 2 bullets are 0.57 caliber 3 ringers that have low side cast marks…both bullets have the side cast mark in the middle & top rings. An interesting place for a 3 ringer to be cast. The mold shown casts a bullet with the sidecast mark just above the top ring. To me this looks like a Georgia troops bullet with a cone cavity & NO teat. The owner of the mold & bullet TL4072a agrees. Notice the sharp nose (ogive) on both bullets. Ken the ogive matches perfectly. The mold handle is marked with a 46 & he suspects this to be an arsenal inventory number. I thought another interesting point is the mold has 2 pin holes that centers the cavity former & when the pins are not used the cavity becomes essentric, see bullet TL4072 cavity. Thanks Mr. J for being so free with your information.
