Here’s a nice bridal rosette that’s listed in Civil War Artifacts A guide for the Historian. Crouch states Civilian rosette bearing a shock of wheat, plow and farm design actual order L-R is plow, shock of wheat & farm design. Possibly emblematic of the farmer’s “Grange” organization. Is it just me or does this look like a Tennessee state seal?? Refer to Albert’s Button Book TN 2,3,4. A dug rosette measures about 1 1/2-2 inches across, brass front with lead filled back that has a nice white patina. The front shows tiny traces of silver gilt. This rosette has 2 holes drilled into it…an old repair..looks like someone wanted to repurpose it. One collector states most likely civilian, most are silvered & “yes they have the feel of Tennessee”. May very well pre-date the war & are confederate. Still looking for information. (#2 says his was dug in a CS camp in Social Circle, GA…just South of Atlanta.
