Here’s something you don’t see for sale very often. Three Burnside hulls placed inside each other. All covered with a deep woods dirt. The condition of the hulls is great. I see no breaks or cracks. I have dug Burnside hulls stuck together a couple times here in NE Tenn. I have heard that sticking these hulls together created a tool used to remove hot hulls from the Burnside chamber. Another possibly is that when firing ceased troops would pick these hulls up to help burn off nervous energy…you be the judge. To find 3 dug hulls in the great condition is almost unheard of. The Burnside hulls is probably the most fragile of all civil war brass hulls. Dig location is North Georgia.
