For your consideration one Burnside hull that was used as a match safe. Use the 2 photos to judge condition of the burnside hull. Inside of the hull the carcasses of 3 to 4 wooden matches were also found. This piece is just as dug. Truely a one of a kind relic. Dug from one of Confederate General Thomas Rosser New Market, Virginia camps. The Laurel Brigade. Rosser fought at 1st & 2nd Manassas, Seven Days Battle, Peninsula Campaign, Catletts Station, South Mtn., Antietam, Gettysburg, Overland Campaign, Wilderness, Cedar Creek, Petersburg, Five Forks & Appomattox Court House. He was wounded at Mechanicsville, Kelly’s Ford & Trevillion Station. A man's man.
