For your consideration one 0.58 caliber Gardner bullet that has been converted into a rifle nipple protector. I rate the cool factor on this relic to be high. To me this looks like a Gardner bullet that has had the top 1/3 of the bullet sliced off & stuffed nose first into the cavity. The left photo shows the side view of the nipple protector. The middle photo shows top of the bullet (where the top was sliced off). This is where the rifles hammer would rest. The right photo shows where the bullets nose was inserted into the cavity. The small hole is where the nipple would fit. You be the judge. Dug from Saltville, VA.
