Here’s a bullet I have had for sometime, trying to figure out what it is. My first reaction was a Mason & McKee #450 that has a plug cavity carved into it. The base of the plug shows some “rough lead”…possibly from carving? The problem there is the sides of the plug & the skirt itself shows absolutely no signs of being carved smooth, smooth & smooth. The slope of the sides is dead on too. 2) In the bullet photo note how the base flares out slightly & how thin & uniform the skirt is. Reminds me of an 0.57 caliber Volcanic (RocketBall) with the iron/brass base nozzlel gone…can’t be that. What is it? Condition is excellent.
