For your consideration one 0.69 caliber round ball made into a nipple protector…most likely a model 1842 smoothbore musket. The first photo shows a notched semi circle where the musket’s hammer would sit. The right photo shows the lead teat that fit inside of the nipple. No damage to the round ball…nice lite white patina. The model 1842 musket saw heavy use during the civil war.
